Every couple of years the Java is dead thing reemerges, and then dies down as people realise that Java continues in rude health, as a critical general purposes programming language and runtime for enterprises and SaaS companies. Java has legs, and the story seemingly never ends. In this talk James Governor will consider and analyze the ongoing strength of the Java ecosystem, with references to newer use cases such as cloud functions and even edge computing. Frameworks continue to drive programming language adoption, and there’s plenty of innovation there in Java. Meanwhile the container revolution is also driving Java modernisation efforts.
